Stargate SG-1 Cancelled
GateWorld is reporting that the record-setting Stargate SG-1 has been cancelled. This report comes just days after SciFi aired the series’ 200th episode and on the same day that MGM added the tenth season of SG-1 and the third season of Atlantis to the iTMS library.
Stargate SG-1 is the longest running North American science fiction television show at 10 years. It was launched on the Showtime network in 1997.
The tenth season’s ratings have been pretty low across the board. I’m not exactly sure why, I’ve enjoyed every episode in season 10 so far. I guess others just got bored and stopped watching. Those of us without lives will miss the show greatly.
Gateworld is reporting that Atlantis has been renewed for a fourth season.
Stargate SG-1 cancelled, Atlantis renewed on GateWorld
Update:
SciFi Wire, SciFi.com’s news service, has posted a story about the cancellation. It includes the following: “SCI FI believes that the time is right to make this season their last on the channel.”
Is it just me or does this leave open the opportunity of Stargate SG-1 airing on another network?

Update 2:
Maybe my thinking isn’t so wishful after all:
Don’t count Stargate SG-1 out just yet. Though SCI FI Channel has cancelled the long-running series, the show’s producers are hard at work looking for a new outlet for the story to continue, executive producer Robert C. Cooper told GateWorld exclusively.
“As far as the future I can’t comment yet because nothing has been confirmed,” Cooper said. “What we want to emphasize is that the franchise is not dying. SG-1 will go on in some way. We’re just not ready to announce how.”

Crazy bigot on a train
I was stumbling around on Vimeo and their homepage auto-updates with the latest commented-on videos and this one happened to appear.
The title caught my attention and I watched it and was left stuck in a “WTF?!” moment. In the video, some crazy bigot goes off on a gay guy and they get into a scuffle.
Crazy drunken bigots shouldn’t be allowed to ride the train. Make ‘em walk.
The video description:
I caught this on the Long Island Railroad at the Fire Island stop.
Allegedly, it started when Mr. God told Mr. Gay and his partner that “it’s worse than raping children”. This upset Mr. Gay, who allegedly physically attacked Mr. God. This was moments before I arrived on the scene with my news camera.
According to a female passenger, Mr. God had been drinking lots of alcohol on the train.
After the scuffle, the conductor told Mr. God to get off the train or he would be arrested. Mr. God told a few spectators that “you’re going to Hell, too, if you believe in gay people”, which would have been funnier if everyone wasn’t completely shaken up.
Some people say religion is no longer relevant in today’s society. They are wrong! Society travels to the Hamptons each weekend accompanied by religion on the LIRR!
Beyoncé as Alfre Woodard
I was watching Beyoncé’s new video for “Ring the Alarm” and sometimes in the Basic Instinct scenes, she reminds me of Alfre Woodard. Especially on the “everything I own” line where she looks off to her left. I think it’s mostly the eyes…
