Never Again

Oh how I showed my ass Saturday night. Not literally, of course (at least I don’t think so), but figuratively.

Between 6PM and 10PM I had about 15 duck farts, two orangutans, a healthy swig of some orange-flavored moonshine, some of a friend’s drink when mine ran out and I stole hers, and at least two big gulps from a pitcher of bear.

I don’t think the moonshine was offered, I just took it from the guy’s hand and he didn’t bother to stop me.

At one point I tried to go to the bathroom, but I couldn’t because I kept falling into the walls. Some friends had to help me back to my room. Then things got really bad. I’ll never live this down.

NEVER AGAIN!

I think I’m in love

I fell in love with a 1974 Chevrolet Caprice convertible last night. I stopped by a friend’s father’s ATV shop and there it was in the back. It’s for sale even. It’s about 67 feet long and 28 feet wide and like The B-52’s Chrysler, it seats about 20.

It’s similar to this one in almost all but color:

Send us your old bling!

You know those GoldKit commercials? I used to only see them late at night when I couldn’t sleep but I’ve been watching an America’s Next Top Model marathon on MTV today and I swear that commercial’s on every five minutes.

I bet that in a few weeks we’ll see one specifically targeted to younger people and it’ll use the word “bling”.

Oh look, you can sell them your old grill:

I hate it when they change iTunes around.

Take a look at this:

iTunes video close button

They’ve moved the “close video” button in iTunes. If my memory is working properly, they’ve expanded the video playback controls, but why did they need to move the button so that it is so hard to find? It took me a good two minutes to hunt it down and I only found it when I entered full-screen mode because everything was black and it was easier to see.

Wikia’s search is a piece of crap

When I search for “iMac” on Wikia’s new search, the only Apple result on the first page is number 7.

I’m a big Stargate fan and earlier I was looking for an episode recap or description for “Misbegotten”, an early episode of Atlantis‘ season 3 and I got nothing useful from Wikia Search, though I got excellent results (the exact site I was looking for, in fact) from Google and Yahoo! Even Live Search or whatever from Microsoft gave me usable results.

I, apparently, am not the only one who’s not impressed:

In trying out the service, BusinessWeek.com put Wikia Search through a history test and the engine did not score well. In response to a query for “Abraham Lincoln,” three of the top four search results provided links to elementary and high schools bearing Lincoln’s name. Amusingly, Google’s results for the same query led off with Wikipedia’s entry about the former President—absent in Wikia’s own results—followed by a string of biographical articles that one might expect. By contrast, such entries were buried deep within Wikia’s results. #

Maybe in two or three years it’ll be something worth checking out again.

What happened to Twiggy?

You know, Twiggy the original mod supermodel.

Here she is as she looks on the current episodes of America’s Next Top Model:

twiggy normal

Here she is now in a photo from a Daily Mail article about Paul McCartney’s son:

twiggy sick?

The caption at the bottom of the image on the article says, “M&S model stops by: Twiggy is an old friend of the McCartney family”.

There’s only one model named Twiggy that I know of so here’s the question: What has Twiggy done to herself? Is she sick? What’s going on?

Wash, rinse, repeat

Every year at about this time Lifetime brings us a new movie that bears a familiar resemblance to It’s A Wonderful Life. Someone hates their life and either 1) has an accident, 2) goes through some portal, or 3) suddenly wakes up and finds themselves in their “perfect” world with their “perfect” life only to discover later that the life that they had was what they really wanted.

The latest fare from Lifetime:

A week before Christmas, Paula (Nicole Eggert) finds herself struggling with bills and life with her blue-collar husband Gary and her two daughters. When Nick, her High School boyfriend returns to town a wealthy art Gallery owner, Paula wonders if she made the wrong decision when she took the wrong date to the prom. What would her life have been like if she stayed with Nick? Christmas is a time for Miracles, and so when Paula wishes she could see what her life would have been like if she’d made the other choice, she finds herself magically transported through her washer/dryer to a parallel life where she is Nick’s wife. At first, this new life seems the answer to her dreams, as she shops and dines out with her newfound wealth. But she soon realizes that the grass is NOT always greener. Her relationship with Nick is in shambles, and she misses her real husband Gary and her two girls. When she sees Gary and her kids living a happy life with another woman, she wishes for just one Christmas gift’to have back the life she didn’t appreciate. Holiday Switch | myLifetime.com

There was one last year that was the same, just with different people and circumstances—the woman last year was a single, successful businesswoman. She wakes up after a car accident to find that she is now a mother and a wife. At first she hates her new life but soon comes to love it. After another car accident, she wakes up back in her old life and “magically” meets her husband from her dream life.

I guess it’s an easy way to get viewers. Just recycle an old story and tweak it a bit. It can’t lose!
