Expanded MacBook Lineup: In Living Color? (Updated)

the different iPod nanosThe rumor sites are abuzz with stories that say that the MacBook lineup will be updated and expanded to five different models. My immediate thought was that five models matched closely with the five different colors of iPod nanos (discounting the red nano) and shuffles.

People already pay an estimated $50 premium to get a black MacBook so what’s to say they wouldn’t pay the same or a bit more for pink, green, blue, or silver? And people who buy MacBooks from ColorWare pay an insane premium for the different color selections: at least $650 for the base MacBook in one of 28 different colors. Who knows.

Just over a year ago, AppleInsider posted an article claiming "Apple’s iBook successor may sport fashionable hues". Maybe their prediction is finally coming true.

Think Secret – MacBook update arriving Tuesday

Mac Rumors: Five New MacBook Configurations for Tues, May 15th? [Updated]

Update: Okay so I was wrong. Not just wrong, I was completely off base. Oh well. Even without the nifty colors, the improvements make the MacBook an even better deal. I just wish they’d get rid of the combo drive in favor of a SuperDrive in the base model.
